Home Farm's prestigious history is catalogued with many of soccer's household names, several of who, continued on to the highest levels in the English and World game. Some of these greats are included here, some more familiar names than others - but all have played their part for the Hoops at some stage or other.

Liam Whelan
Capped 4 times for the Republic of Ireland, Liam 'Billy' Whelan began his career at Home Farm before joining Manchester United in 1953, making 79 appearances over 5 years, with 43 goals to his credit. Liam was one of eight Man Utd players killed in the Munich Air Disaster in 1958. He was aged 22.

Paddy Mulligan
Featured for Bohs and Shamrock Rovers during the 1960's after his Home Farm youth before a spell in the USA, going on to sign for Chelsea in 1969. Paddy featured in Chelsea's UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Final victory over Real Madrid in 1971, followed by spells at Palace, West Brom and Shamrock Rovers. In his career, Paddy won 50 caps for Ireland before a period in management.

Ronnie Whelan
Made his Home Farm debut on his 16th birthday in 1977, before moving to Bob Paisley's Liverpool in Sept 1979 becoming an integral part of the dominant Liverpool side of the 1980s. Whelan owned the midfield at Anfield with 443 appearances and 73 goals, instrumental in many famous victories, including the treble of 1984.

Kenny Cunningham
Played at Home Farm from U9s to U17 before signing for Millwall in 1989 aged 18. 5 years at The Den were followed by 8 years at Wimbledon and 4 years at Bham City and a season in Sunderland. A solid defender, Kenny played 72 times for the Republic.

Richard Dunne
Joined Everton as a 15-year-old in 1994, signing a 5-year contract soon after. With a move to Man City in 2000, Dunne went on to make consistent performances that earned him their Player of the Year award 4 times. Now a Villa player and the rock of Ireland's backline.

Darren O'Dea
Started at Home Farm before going to Celtic in 2006 making 49 appearances. Loan spells at Reading, Ipswich and currently, Leeds, followed. O'Dea has earned 10 senior caps for the Republic to date.

Nicky Byrne
Before selling 40 million albums worldwide, Byrne played his football at Home Farm and St. Kev's before going to Leeds in 1995. This was followed by spells at Shels, Cobh Ramblers and St.Francis FC. Byrne represented Ireland at U15, U16 and U18 levels.
